McCartney creates Guardian to celebrate Destiny title song release http://goo.gl/lR6e2B

Paul McCartney has today released "Hope for the Future", the
first song he has written for a computer game.

As well as writing the title theme for the game Destiny, McCartney
has also created his own Guardian for the game. Every player must
create a Guardian when they start the game, and they can be one of
three classes: Titan, Hunter or Warlock. McCartney has opted to be
a female Hunter of the Awoken race. He also personalised her face.
"I had quite a laugh creating her," he said.

Until now, "Hope for the Future" has been available exclusively
within the game itself, but a digital version will be available
from today, along with four special mixes of the track. Many people
will already be the familiar with the song as Destiny sold $325
million (£209 million) worth of copies in its first fve days
alone.

"When you're writing something like 'Hope For The
Future', which is custom made, it is like doing a portrait for
someone. You have to use your imagination and work out what they
need, what they're going to want and then what you want to give
them. Then you've got to combine those three things into something
that you still think maintains integrity," said McCartney, on the
writing the track.

"It is not just a game song," he added. "This will
get played outside the game so it has got to be stand alone too,
you can't have references to aliens or people
will think 'what's he talking about?' So it had to have its own
stand alone meaning and integrity."
