The balloon's gone up: Archos has unveiled the 80b Helium, a 4G tablet that costs just £150.

The 80b Helium is the sequel to the 8-inch 80 Helium 4G tablet revealed this time last year by French manufacturer Archos. It's expected to land in the UK in early 2015; release dates and prices for other countries are yet to be confirmed. The UK price would convert to roughly $230 or AU$285.

It's powered by Android software, so you can download apps and games from the Google Play online store, although Archos hasn't revealed which specific version it's running. Info on the Helium is thinner than the tail on a balloon-animal sausage dog, but we do know it boasts a 1.5GHz quad-core processor.

We'll find out more at CES 2015, the technology trade show held every January where the world's gadget manufacturers gather to show off their wares for the coming year. Stick with CNET for all the first impressions, hands-on videos and glossy photos of the 80b Helium and the best of the rest technology coming your way in the new year.
