LAS VEGAS -- Bang & Olufsen has beefed up its headphone offering, with the super-stylish BeoPlay H8 on-ear earphones, built from aluminium, sheepskin and leather.

The H8 headphones feature active noise cancelling and Bang & Olufsen claim that the phones are some of the lightest on the market, weighing just 255g (9 ounces) despite the high-end production materials. The headphones can last an impressive 14 hours from one battery charge, even with the active noise cancelling feature turned on. Even better, the rechargeable battery can be replaced so if 14 hours isn't enough, you can simply snap in a new battery.

The cups are built from anodised aluminium with a sheepskin pad -- a welcome touch for an on-ear set of headphones. The outside of the right cup is a touch interface, with simple gesture controls to answer to answer calls, adjust volume and change songs.

The H8 -- and we'll assume that's pronounced "aitch-eight" and not "hate" -- comes in two suitably ludicrous-sounding colours: Grey Hazel and Argilla Bright. Luckily, as you can see, the colours look a lot better than they sound. The new cans are available this month and you'll pay $499 or €499 in Europe -- that converts to about AU$620 or £330 for the folks in Australia and the UK.
